The Lone Sailor

The ship’s sailing. Yes, it still is. But in what direction, I do not know. To what end, I’m clueless.

Sometimes the land is visible but I can’t tell if it’s a mirage or real. For that I’ll have to reach it, right? But it’s like the horizon… from far away the sky appears reachable but the nearer you go the farther it becomes until it dims into the infinite debris of human evolution: our Earth.

Then there are times when the endless blue doesn’t scare me, for the blue sea is calm, an ally rather than the enemy, and the blue sky scattered with glistening stars seems like the Lord himself smiling down at me.

But tonight… tonight the sea is wild and endless. Amidst the interminable waters, a drought envelopes me, my parched lips long for a drop of light, hope and peace; perpetual and incessant. Not the uncertain and so easily changeable illusion of tranquility and peace, but real and fulfilling happiness.

I have no idea how much longer can this ship stand the storm and I dread to think that it won’t be long. I write this journal (or whatever you may wish to call it) in the hope that one day I’ll read it and smile at how easily hope deserts us and how we can’t see the wide open door right in front of us in troubled times. And in the hope that my toils would have taken me to a better place by then.

And also because I believe that though we humans have soft hearts our souls are indestructible and that is where our true strength, our will, and determination resides. If not then maybe another troubled heart would be able to derive the faintest hope from my words, just enough to not fall over the edge.

Pakistan VS Australia: The Unpredictable Team Wins the Game!

Written By: Bariyah Faisal

Yes, Pakistan has done it again. And that match was the biggest proof was Pakistan's unpredictably. Who would have thought that Pakistan would make 191 after succumbing to 130 against India. And India's bowling is not threatening either. But the win over Australia didn't come that easily. There were couple of drop catches, poor fielding, two early wickets, 30 runs in one over of Bhatti, but in the end Pakistan won it.

The innings of Umar Akmal and Maxwell were superb. The finest in one match, I would say. Akmal's 94 are the second highest score by a Pakistani in t20s and those runs came at the perfect moment. His 94 included 9 fours and 4 sixes. He added 95 runs for the 3rd wicket with his brother Kamran. While Maxwell innings gave Pakistani fans mini heart attacks, they certainly were excellent If he would have stayed a little longer, the match would have been over for Pakistan.

Maxwell made the fourth highest half century of t20s. He was playing spinners better than any other Australian batsmen. Aaron Finch gained confidence from him and he also made a half century. Maxwell's catch was dropped at 70 by Ajmal but Afridi made sure that no more damage was done and Maxwell was gone after playing blistering innings of 74.

After Maxwell's departure Australia was never in the match, they lost 4 wickets in 20 balls. Saeed Ajmal's last over made things more difficult for Australians. That over conceded only one runs and a wicket. Surely, that is Saeed Ajmal for you! Australia needed 25 runs off the last over and you know what they lost 3 wickets and could make only 6 runs. The most surprising thing was that Bhatti bowled the last over and he made a good, quick recovery.

Well, this is how Pakistan won the thriller of t20 world cup and a must win game ... If Pakistan keep on playing like this and impressing us with their unpredictability, then there is no doubt Pakistan will be the world t20 champions. Good luck team Pakistan! You guys rock!

Things They Said

 Written By: Rameeza Ahmad

He said hi, she said hello.
He said lets talk, she said don’t go.
He said you’re pretty, she said much more.
He said you’re mine, she said you’ll never be alone.
He said I’m busy, she said great.
He said he’d call, she said she’d wait.
He said he forgot, she said it’s okay.
He said you’re mad, she said it’s a phase.
He said good bye, she said I’m sorry.
He said it’s over, she said don’t hurry.
He said he was tired, she was confused.
He said he was bored, she said you mean I’m all used.

The Scent of Your Love

The scent of your love lingered in my books, it kept me alive. I remembered our memories, I remembered the looks. Even when apart you were still inside me, in every breath I took, when eyes got closed you were all over me. It was like you were the the ocean I dived in to die. - Rabiya Ismail.

Unnoticeable Acts of Kindness

Aren't they the most adorable kids you'll ever see? Do you see how cute their smile is. Sadly though, they cannot see.

Usually I avoid reading Pakistani newspapers, they are all about rape cases, killings, blame games. But this morning I was going through some online editions and suddenly saw this photo.

Muhib Shah lives in Peshawar and is a technician who works really hard to earn a living. He has been blessed with six kids, three of them are blind. Alishba, Sameer and Talha are their names.

Pakistan's Chances in World Cup T20 2014.

ICC World T20 2014

The fifth edition of ICC World T20 is here and the next 20 days or so will be all about fun and tension and excitement and hopefully joy and happiness for the Pakistani team and the people of Pakistan. Let us analyze Pakistani team and the chances of Pakistan in this tournament from different angles.

Pakistan in T20 format.

It is said that Pakistan Cricket team is the most unpredictable team in the world, that when we can win the matches in which we are underdogs and we can lose the matches in which we are the favorites, but that hasn't been the case with Pakistan in the T20 format.

Let Me Dream Cricket

Written By: Muhammad Ahmed

I had been watching my classmates play cricket since kindergarten but it never really encouraged me to try the sport until 6 years ago. It was first year of my middle school when I started to understand and take liking to cricket hence I ought myself to play in a match of a tennis ball cricket.

My dad and his brother were professional cricketers who played a lot of domestic cricket back in Pakistan and when they came to Dubai in 1985, they played representing different teams including Sharjah, Al-Futtaim etc. They played to their hearts’ content and finally called off their career in mid-90s.

You Make Me Feel

Written By: Rameeza Ahmad

You make me feel like I’m such a thief.
Stealing your time while you have to leave.
You make me feel like I’m such a drag.
Vying for your attention by trying to brag.
You make me feel like you have places to be.
While I make you waste your time with me.
You make me feel like I need to go.
Because you don’t want to talk anymore.
You make me feel like I’m not good enough.
Like you could do better and I’m too rough.
You make me feel I should end this now.
But I don’t have the guts and you don’t know how.

My Amazican Life

Hey Bro, Sup with you nigga?  Hahaha, just kidding. Hello everyone.

Two crazy months! Or let's say busy months, or let's just say .. two months in which I actually had something proper to do.

America has been really kind to me. No matter how much I hate it, gotta admit they don't make you feel you're an Asian, they treat and respect you like you're an American. Well that's my experience at least. No matter how much I hate it, gotta admit it is one of the most versatile country, you'll find every type of people here, you can do and see and learn so much.

Pakistan vs India - Ending Moments Asia Cup

Eighteen years into Afridi's career - one that includes a World Twenty20 trophy, a record for the fastest ODI century that stood for over 17 years, and many sixes and smiles and the star man - he has played another defining knock. One that fans will continue to relive on YouTube years from now.

That Girl

Written By: Rameeza Ahmad

I asked her what’s wrong, she said she’s fine.
I should have asked more, didn’t know she was lying.
I hear when she’s alone, she just keeps on crying.
It’s a bad world and inside she’s dying.
She’s alone and she’s fighting her war.
She’s lost hope, confidence and I’m watching her fall.
I should help her more but why bother trying.
She’s a sad girl, she’ll just keep on dying.

Shahid Afridi - The Hero of Dhaka

With one stroke in Sharjah, Javed Miandad "was remarked to have cut across the Indian ego like a knife slash…," wrote Rahul Bhattacharya in Pundits from Pakistan.

As Shahid Afridi dispatched the ball mightily into the Dhaka sky, the leading edge just about carried over the long-on fielder. It was Pakistan's first one-wicket win over India since April 18, 1986.

When nine was needed off the last four balls, Afridi smashed R Ashwin for a six over extra cover. Afridi didn't leave it as late as Miandad and Tauseef Ahmed did.

Let's Pretend

Written By: Rameeza Ahmad

Let’s pretend she’s not broken, let’s pretend she’s just fine.
Let’s pretend she’s just sleeping, let’s pretend she’s not lying.
Let’s pretend she’s just happy, let’s pretend she’s not crying.
Let’s pretend she’s just tired, let’s pretend she’s not dying.
Let’s pretend she has new friends, let’s pretend she’s really trying.
Let’s pretend she has no problems, let’s pretend she’s just shying.

She

Written By: Rameeza Ahmad

She hides her misery, she hides her pain.
No one even cares so her efforts are in vain.
She tries to run, she tries to forget.
She tries to make amends but she has too many regrets.
She tries to smile, take joy in little things.
But her life is messed up so where can she begin.
She needs a savior, someone to help her.
She’s drowning in her own thoughts but no one sees her.
What can she do to make others see.
But she’s nearly invisible so they all let her be.
